The Leland Police Department Patrol Division has an authorized strength of thirteen members. Many members of this Division bring with them the experience of their full time employment with major metropolitan police agencies, thus providing a dynamic and superior quality of services to the community. Members of this Division adhere to the strictest standards of integrity, professionalism, and service. Officers are responsible for the daily law enforcement matters within the Village, providing public safety services to a population of approximately 1,300 citizens and, during certain special events, as many as 10,000 persons.
The Leland Police Department Patrol Division subscribes to a philosophy of community policing. By working closely with Village residents and local businesses the Patrol Division not only solves crime, but works to prevent it. Through a close relationship with its citizenry, school, businesses, neighboring jurisdictions, and other components of the criminal justice system, this division utilizes a strategic approach to proactively preventing criminal activity before it occurs rather than just responding to incidents after they occur.
As part of a full service police agency, this division effectively meets the needs of the community by building partnerships for the future.
